Keeping Neptune at Bay (Operation Tip)

Keeping Neptune at Bay (Operation Tip)

Those of us who work around the water know of its corrosive nature—especially salt water. Despite all of the Marina Bull’s great features to ameliorate rust and corrosion, Neptune is patient. He will eventually overcome the best of precautions. This is one reason why most of you (all of you?) rinse down the bottom of a boat once it is away from the seawall and raised about 6-8 feet.

When you lift a boat out of the water and tilt it back, sea or lake water often flows back over parts of the lift. So when you finish washing the boat, take that opportunity to wash down the forks, carriage, mast, and other parts of your Marina Bull that were exposed to water.

That 5 minutes will make that long-lasting Marina Bull last even longer.

Marina LoPro at Naples Bay Yacht Stowage

Marina LoPro at Naples Bay Yacht Stowage

Naples Bay Yacht Stowage bought a Wiggins marina lift a year ago. Today they could not be happier. Their Marina LoPro is running great and handles everything they can throw at it—and it looks fantastic!  The lift is a W3.8M2-130 WV LP and can lift up to 42,000. Naples has named the LoPro “Wingfoot IV”—a fitting name for such a maneuverable lift.

Naples Bay Yacht Stowage is located in Naples, Florida and has space for more than 170 boats. The marina boasts enclosed dry stack units for boats (“rackominiums”), as well as slip rental and sales. They can store boats up to 42′.

“Innovative Business of the Year” Award for Wiggins Lift Company, Inc.

“Innovative Business of the Year” Award for Wiggins Lift Company, Inc.

The Oxnard Chamber of Commerce presented Wiggins Lift Co., Inc. with the “Innovative Business of the Year” award at its 65th Community & Business Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:30 at the Courtyard by Marriott Oxnard.

CEO Michele Wiggins-McDowell was present to accept the award for the company, and spoke briefly:

“On behalf of all the employees of Wiggins Lift Company,  thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for this award. I am especially honored to accept this award for innovation, because that’s where the roots of our company lie. In the 1950s, my grandfather, Mel Wiggins, worked on agricultural equipment in Oxnard. He was frustrated that the engines were not easily accessible in the fields. He believed he could build a better machine, and Wiggins Lift Company was born.Under his leadership, and then of his son—my father—Mike Wiggins, the company continued to provide unique and innovative solutions in areas of agriculture, construction, stevedoring, military, mining, and the marine dry stack industry. Customers come to us with problems, and our engineers and fabricators design solutions. Our products are unique, customized, and reliable.”

“As today’s third-generation leader of Wiggins Lift, I am proud to say that the tradition continues as we ship products all over the world. Wiggins lifts are found working on the decks of Navy ships in rough seas, deep inside dark mining tunnels, handling nuclear waste in Canada, and transporting boats in marinas on lakes and oceans everywhere. Last year we shipped the world’s largest Marina lift to Florida; this month we sent our most innovative product ever to Australia—the Marina Flex.”

“Oxnard has been home to our business and our family for over 60 years and four generations. It has been home for our extended family—our employees. To receive an award for innovation celebrates our work. To receive it from the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce celebrates our home.”

“From all of the employees of Wiggins Lift Company, past and present…thank you.”

Wiggins Lift at the Miami Int’l Boat Show 2015

Wiggins Lift at the Miami Int’l Boat Show 2015

The Miami Boat International Boat Show 2015 was a resounding success for Wiggins Lift Company this year. Held every February, this massive show hosts more than 1,700 companies who produce over 80% of marine products used by boaters in the U.S.

Wiggins Lift Co., Inc. was on hand, as we have been for over 20 years, with our booth ready to meet new and existing customers, talk to anyone interested in the dry-storage and boat-handling industry, and see old friends and meet new ones. In front of our booth were two Marina Bull LoPro machines—one for Caribee Marina and another for Snake Creek Marina. We also presented the world’s first marina industry tire: the Wiggins Marine Titanium Extreme Duty.

Next year’s show is February 11-15, 2016. Save the dates, come to Miami, and stop by out booth and say hi!
